Finland-Swedish singer-songwriter creating music "outside the box", yet straight from the heart. Désirée’s guitar playing, rooted in the folk traditions, provides a solid foundation for her poetic verses that she creates joined by her personal voice. With nine albums released to date, she performs solo and with her band Désirée Saarela & Triskel. Désirée walks her own artistic path and has the ability to tell stories and express a lot of emotion and colour, shadows and light through her music. Finland-Swedish folk at the crossroads of forest, sea and city. Nordic intimacy that stays with you.

Annanland - The Otherland

Released in october 2024, Annanland is an invitation to travel through time and space where emblematic artists, paintings and places are expressed in words and melodies. Written in english and swedish, it’s the 9th and latest album of Désirée Saarela. Annanland is a powerful piece that brings alternatively nostalgia and hope to the listeners while conveying a strong feeling of universality.

Swedish artist Malin Skinnar conceived for each song animated tapestries that add a poetical visual dimension to Désirée’s concerts. The audiovisual live experience results in a unique heartwarming concert that deeply touches the audience especially in these times of uncertainty.

Building bridges between visual arts and music at every stage of the project, Désirée’s lyrics were painted in the exhibition “Sublimation” by Chloé Miller at the Carrousel du Louvre. Once the album completed, Chloé painted the cover.
