Nord, Livet

Livet Nord, who runs the company Livet Nord Kulturproduktion located in Siljansnäs, is a musician and culture entrepreneur working with music production and cultural exchange in various projects and organisations. She runs the label Kakafon Records (www.kakafon.com) together with musician colleagues. She is also a board member of the Musikcentrum Sweden (www.musikcentrumriks.se/english).

As musician she plays the five-stringed Violinquintone in several groups. The two world touring groups New Tide Orquesta and Kaja, both highly acclaimed by the critics, are the own groups she represents at Womex. She also works with cultural exchange projects between her own groups and musicians, agencies, organisations and festivals around the world.

NEW TIDE ORQUESTA (former New TANGO Orquesta) have, on eight albums and a countless number of international tours up to now, with the composer Per Stoerby as a leader, explored and developed the concept of "nuevo tango". With their unique mix of baroque music, new tango, free improvisation, and minimalism, they have gained territory all over the world with their special sound. KAJA have developed their own unique style of music reflecting both innovation and tradition. Klezmer and other Eastern European folk music is the foundation, adding layers of film and contemporary music, Tango, Swedish folk tunes and improvisation. Kaja releasedtheir 4:rth album March 2019.
