While Central and Eastern Europe is often framed as an ‘emerging market,’ South East Europe (SEE) remains one of the most under-represented regions in European music policy, funding, and international visibility. This session explores how SEE is not a deficit zone, but a cultural powerhouse with its own ecosystem, talent pipeline, and export-ready infrastructure. Featuring regional leaders from festivals, agencies, and institutions, this session will challenge outdated narratives, present new data, and examine what is needed for SEE to be recognised and supported as a strategic cultural asset within the EU and beyond.
