On October 4, 2025, Swedish–Chilean pianist, singer, and composer Tania Naranjo released
Ojosauro, a musical tribute to the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. The title is from Kahlo’s
illustrated diary, where there is a drawing of a fantasy being or monster called Ojosauro.
The title track with the same name, marking the emotional highlight of the album, was
released on September 5, 2025 .
“I never paint dreams or nightmares. I paint my own reality.” – Frida Kahlo
This spirit of transforming inner life into art lies at the core of Ojosauro. In this album,
Naranjo gives sound to Kahlo’s words, blending her expressive piano and vocals with
electronic textures and production by Jens Andersson (@filtmusic), alongside the pulsating
rhythms of darbuka master Bader Debs (@bader_debs).
“Frida Kahlo’s words, her struggle, and her resilience speak to all of us. Through Ojosauro, I
hope you can feel her spirit as deeply as I do,” says Tania Naranjo.
Ojosauro was released on Valle Music, with a premiere concert at Malmö Live Konserthus
on October 4, presented by Mix Musik.
