Saxophonist, composer, and arranger Silas Prado presents a heartfelt concert in tribute to Letieres Leite, one of the greatest names in Brazilian music. Drawing from the rhythmic claves of Candomblé and the Reinado traditions of Minas Gerais, Silas brings to the stage the powerful sound of his acclaimed album Obrigado, Mestre, which bridges contemporary instrumental language with Afro-Brazilian musical heritage.
Winner of the 21st BDMG Instrumental Award, Silas Prado stands out as one of the leading voices of the Afro-Mineiro instrumental scene, honoring masters such as Letieres Leite, Moacir Santos, Dorival Caymmi, and Milton Nascimento. In Obrigado, Mestre, he explores ancestral rhythms and sophisticated harmonies, connecting Afro-Brazilian spirituality and the percussive roots of Minas Gerais.
The concert features a special guest appearance by trombonist Allan Abbadia, whose expressive tone and mastery add vibrant layers of melody and harmony, creating a deep musical dialogue with Silas Prado’s saxophone.
In this performance, Silas celebrates Letieres Leite’s legacy through a repertoire that blends his own compositions, such as “Pé na Terra” and “Obrigado, Mestre” (a direct homage to Letieres), alongside reinterpretations of iconic works like “Honra ao Rei”, reaffirming Letieres’ timeless influence on Brazilian music.
