Sigmar Matthiasson's sound is best described as a magnificent blend of hardcore groove and colorful melodies. He has been an active performer on the Icelandic music scene for several years, performing and/or recording with many of the most in demand musicians in Iceland.
In addition Matthiasson has performed at many international festivals and concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, London Jazz Festival in the UK and Oslo Jazz Festival in Norway.
Matthiasson has released three solo albums in his own name - Áróra in 2018, Meridian Metaphor in 2021 and Uneven Equator in 2024. Matthiasson has been nominated a total of ten times for the Icelandic Music Awards and has been awarded two times - for Jazz Group of year and Folk/World Album of the year in 2022.
