SERITA is a Finnish-Japanese singer-songwriter who draws her listeners deep into intense and cultural cross-pressures. Drawing influences from kawaii metal and j-rock, the artist deals with life's big themes such as love and self-discovery through the power of songwriting, where the songs take on a delicate yet bold sound. SERITA's lyrics draw inspiration from her personal life, where the artist's goal in her music is to bring out the nuances of life and identity through the power of songwriting, which transports and supports her listeners in Finnish, English and Japanese.
Serita releases her EP Kitsune No Koe (The Voice of the Fox) on October 24, which also includes her new release Erase Me (composed, lyrics by Anna Serita, produced & arranged by Lauri Hämäläinen). The song deals with how the external world can provide material security – a house, a body, even external value – but they never fulfill the real need for belonging, acceptance, and love.
The title of the EP Kitsune No Koe refers to Japanese mythology, where the kitsune, or fox, represents intelligence, magic, transformation and change. The fox walks the border between two worlds – humans and spirits – and is full of enigmatic power. The fox's voice takes the listener deep into a spiritual and emotional dimension, where life and struggles may remain hidden, but their voice is still always present. The songs on the EP deal with transition, finding love, inner struggle and finding one's own strength. Kitsune No Koe is for those who have never fully heard themselves, but who know that their voice is always there.
