The periphery, the center, the urban, and hip hop—in short, everyday life and its various aspects—are the inspirations for rapper Roger Deff, an MC from Belo Horizonte who began his career in the rap world in the 1990s with the band Julgamento, one of the longest-running acts in the local scene. In 2019, he released his first solo album, "Etnografia Suburbana," a work that explores the contribution of the Black diaspora in Brazil and around the world, portraying the hardships experienced by people of African descent and emphasizing the power of African-based culture. In 2021, he released the album "Pra Romper Fronteiras," which pays homage to the foundations of hip hop, and in 2023, his third album, "Alegoria da Paisagem." Throughout his career, he has shared stages with artists such as Marku Ribas, Milton Nascimento, Sérgio Pererê, and Negra Li.
