Northflip

Northflip is a collaboration of two strong instrumentalists. Viivi Maria Saarenkylä (accordion) and J-P Piirainen (acoustic guitar).

Viivi Maria's masterful yet expressive accordion playing has earned her recognition on international folk stages. J-P is known especially for his virtuosic fingerstyle guitar playing and his original approach to Nordic folk music.

Flipping seamlessly between tradition and popular culture, the vivid music of this Northern duo is bustling influences from near and far. But the North is deep in the duo’s DNA and the music grooves like a snowball rolling down the hill – mingling these inspirations and impulses into a thrilling core of new Finnish music.
