Makely Ka is a singer, songwriter, and lyricist. His compositions have been performed by renowned artists such as Lô Borges, Samuel Rosa, Titane, Ná Ozzetti, José Miguel Wisnik, and dozens of others. He released the collaborative album A Outra Cidade in 2003 with composers Kristoff Silva and Pablo Castro, followed by Danaide in 2006 with singer Maísa Moura. His solo debut, Autófago (2008), was acclaimed by critics as one of the best Brazilian rock albums of the year.
In 2014, alongside Rafael Martini, he composed the symphonic piece Suíte Onírica, a five-movement work recorded with the Venezuelan Symphony Orchestra. His 2015 album Cavalo Motor emerged from an extensive journey through the Northwest region of Minas Gerais and featured collaborations with Arto Lindsay and Décio Ramos of the UAKTI Group. In 2021, he released the instrumental album Rio Aberto, showcasing his skill on the 10-string viola, dynamic viola, and craviola. His most recent work, Triste Entrópico (2024), presents a collection of new original songs.
A versatile and inspired lyricist, Makely has collaborated with numerous composers across Brazil, including Guinga, Chico César, and Toninho Ferragutti, most notably on the album Dínamo, which features ten songs co-written with Lô Borges. He has performed on major stages across Brazil and internationally, including in Lithuania, Denmark, Portugal, Spain, Mexico, Turkey, and Greece—where he took part in the 2012 WOMEX edition in Thessalonica.
