Luomuduo (Olli Sippola on violin and Sakari Keipi on guitar) are the loudest prophets of Nordic instrumental post-folk.
Alongside their strong respect for Finnish tradition, Luomuduo embraces a healthy disregard for genre and stylistic boundaries, with a tendency to play whatever they please — always within the limits of good taste, of course.
The duo connects continents by combining Finnish folk heritage with North American roots. Sakari’s early years in Virginia, U.S.A., add a unique layer to the duo’s sound.
Luomuduo released their debut album, “Askola”, in 2021. After hearing it, Kansanmusiikki magazine described them as “one of the most stylish ensembles of the moment.” In 2022, they won first place in the national Konsta Jylhä competition for their interpretations of melodies by the legendary fiddler Hassun-Pekko.
Luomuduo performs regularly in Finland and across the Europe. They were invited to perform at Norway’s Folkelarm in 2023 and the Kaustinen Folk Music Festival in 2024. In 2025 they played at the Rudolstadt-Festival, Germany.
