With the affectionate nickname given to her by friends a few years ago, LETRUX, as she became known throughout the country after the release of her first solo album, EM NOITE DE CLIMÃO (Joia Moderna), writer, singer, songwriter and actress Letícia Novaes is one of the most prominent names on the contemporary independent music scene.
‘Letrux em Noite de Climão’, produced by Arthur Braganti and Natalia Carrera, was released via crowdfunding and won several prestigious awards, such as the 2017 Multishow Award (Best Album of the Year), Bravo! 2017 (Best Album of the Year), Women Music Event 2017 (Best Production), Women Music Event 2018 (Best Show) and Associação dos Críticos de Arte de SP (APCA) 2018 (Best Show), and propelled Letícia to a privileged place in the national indie-pop scene. The shows toured throughout Brazil for two and a half years, including major capitals and festivals such as LollaPalooza (SP), Popload (SP), Queremos (RJ), MECA Inhotim (MG) and MECA Brennand (PE), Radioca (BA), Maloca Dragão (CE), SeRasgum (PA) and others.
He toured Portugal, performing at MIL Lisboa and in the cities of Porto and Coimbra. In 2019, at the end of the album tour, it became an audiovisual recording. ‘Letrux em Noite de Climão - Ao Vivo’ was recorded at the Ibirapuera Auditorium in São Paulo and directed by Tata Pierry.
Released on 13 March 2020, the day Brazil came to a standstill due to the pandemic, ‘Letrux Aos Prantos’ is an ode to emotion. With artistic direction by Letícia Novaes, the second album of the Letrux era was produced through the Natura Musical programme, produced by Arthur Braganti and Natália Carrera, the same producers of ‘Climão’. ‘Aos Prantos’ was recorded in November 2019 at the Red Bull Station studio in São Paulo and features special guest appearances by Liniker and Luisa Lovefoxxx. It is a more mature and dense album, which still contains the ironies of Letrux's daily life and destiny.
The album was nominated for a Latin Grammy in the category ‘Best Rock or Alternative Music Album in Portuguese Language’ and for the APCA 2020 award in the category ‘Top 50 Albums’. The tour began in late 2021 and lasted until March 2023. They participated in several festivals in Brazil and abroad, such as FMM, Festival Músicas do Mundo, in Sines, Portugal. On that same European tour, they performed in Berlin, London, Madrid, Lisbon, Porto, Braga and on the island of Madeira.
The third studio album, Letrux Como Mulher Girafa, was produced by musician and DJ João Brasil. The album features a special guest appearance by Lulu Santos on the song ‘Zebra’ and presents 10 unreleased tracks, reflecting the artist's own state of mind: herself as a giraffe, her symbolic animal. Most of the tracks are named after animals: Aranha (Spider), Leões (Lions), Formiga (Ant). But there is also ‘As feras, essa querida’ (The beasts, my dear), the opening track of the album, and the last track, which is also not named after an animal, where Letrux explains: "Last year I read more about shamans talking about each person's power animal. And I made a connection with a game that is a psychological test that I learned years ago and still use today. It consists of asking what animal the person wants to be and why. And that generates interpretations, which is why the last track is called Teste Psicológico Animalesco (Animal Psychological Test)." Letrux did this test with presenter Pedro Bial when he appeared on his programme on Rede Globo, Conversas com Bial, in mid-2024. This show was presented at major Brazilian festivals, such as Rock The Mountain, Coala and Sensacional.
