Brazilian artist, musician, and ethnomusicologist Leandro César is known for his inventive work as an instrument maker and sound sculptor, exploring the boundaries between art, design, and music since 2007. Deeply influenced by Walter Smetak and Marco Antônio Guimarães, he worked for six years with the legendary group Uakti, building and maintaining their instruments and touring across Brazil, the U.S., and Europe.
Leandro creates musical sculptures, sound installations, and acoustic instruments that merge craftsmanship and experimentation, bridging contemporary creation with Brazil’s traditional cultures. His pieces have been shown in Brazil, Portugal, South Korea, and the U.S.
Also a composer and arranger, he has collaborated with Tom Zé, Elomar, Titane, and Nuno Ramos, among others. His work affirms a unique artistic path where music, matter, and imagination resonate as one.
