The renowned singer, teacher and instrument player, Katerina Papadopoulou is a contemporary ambassadress of Greek traditional music. Counting already more than 30 years of international presence and over 50 records in her career Katerina with Aegean Arc create a unique musical journey to Greece’s cultural landscape and attest that tradition is not only a museum legacy, but something that lives, breathes and evolves within us, with us, around us, for us.
The album “Anastasis” (2021) gained international recognition, a 5 star review at Songlines Magazine and remained at the top of the international charts for several weeks (World Music Chart, Transglobal World Music Chart). Her latest album “Aura” (2024) with Aegean Arc climbed at at the second place of Balkan World Music Chart (Q1).
In the musical journey with “Aegean Arc”, Katerina accompanies the audience to a musical journey throughout the Southern Greek Arc (the Aegean Arc), an arcuate geographical area that extends from Cyprus to south Italy and includes the southern coasts of Asia Minor, the Dodecanese, Crete, the Southern Peloponnese and the Cyclades.
Via this journey, the distinct cultural wealth, mutual linguistic and musical characteristics of unquestionable kinship, are revealed, testifying to the encounter and coexistence of people throughout the centuries.
