An Afro-indigenous multi-artist, Héloa is one of the great exponents of Brazilian music.
With a sweet and strong voice, the artist, who is also an actress, filmmaker, and visual artist, dedicates her life to research related to African and native matrices in Brazil. Born in northeastern Brazil, in the smallest state of the country, Sergipe, Héloa sings about the natural beauties and the deep Brazil present in popular traditions, in the candomblé grounds, in the quilombos, and in the villages. With 3 albums released and a DVD that celebrates her 15 years on the road, her most recent work ("yIDé", from 2022) has the musical production of Carlinhos Brown and Yuri Queiroga and big names of the Brazilian music such as: Margareth Menezes, Luíz Caldas, Lia de Itamaracá, Mateus Aleluia, Maestro Spok, and the Sabuká Kariri-Xocó Indigenous Group. With a sound called "afropop-sagrado" that mixes several Afro-Portuguese and native rhythms, added to electronic beats, wind instruments, guitar and drums, Héloa sings and evokes African and indigenous gods, with her own compositions that reinforce the fight against racism, xenophobia, sexism, and social emergencies.
For 7 years she has been living in São Paulo, where her work has had even more reach, such as her presence at the São Paulo Fashion Week, where, besides parading, she sang the songs from her latest album at the largest fashion week in Latin America. Héloa was invited by Goethe Institute, in Germany, to represent Brazil in Berlin with her show and in debates about confronting racism in Brazil, and more recently, the invitation from the NGO Latincouver to perform for the Latin community in Canada at the Latin American Heritage Festival.
