The group won Best Reinterpretation of Traditional Music.
In this first edition of the awards, the band — composed of Maria Antónia Mendes (vocals), Carlos Guerreiro (winds/percussion), Nuno Prata (bass), Sérgio Nascimento (drums), Luís J Martins (guitar) and Pedro da Silva Martins (guitar/composer) — was also nominated in the Best Traditional Music Album category.
Recognising artists, albums and performances that keep the country’s musical tradition alive and ever-evolving, the PLAY: Prémios da Música Tradicional — a new extension of the PLAY: Portuguese Music Awards promoted by Audiogest and integrated into the Artes à Vila Festival —, have just honoured the collective Cara de Espelho for the uniqueness of their self-titled debut album.
The brand-new singles “O Que Esta Gente Quer” and “Elefante no Hemiciclo” are the latest expression of the group’s distinctive sound, which blends Portuguese traditional music with a contemporary and experimental approach. Both tracks will be part of Cara de Espelho’s second album, scheduled for release in early 2026.
