Cara de Espelho release new single “O Que Esta Gente Quer”

After releasing the incisive “Elefante no Hemiciclo” in April, Cara de Espelho now present “O Que Esta Gente Quer”, a new single that has become one of the most acclaimed moments in their live performances. The song, available from today on digital platforms, reinforces the band’s critical and socially engaged identity.

With lyrics and music by Pedro da Silva Martins, production by Nelson Carvalho in collaboration with the band, and collective arrangements by Cara de Espelho themselves, the track plunges into the chaos of a popular protest — noise, tension, repression, and the often frustrating attempt to truly understand what is at stake. The question is repeated, insistently: “What do these people want?”

Recorded at Estúdios Louva-a-Deus in February 2025, the single features the striking voice of Maria Antónia Mendes, joined by Pedro da Silva Martins and Luís J Martins on guitars, Carlos Guerreiro and Gonçalo Marques on wind instruments and percussion, Sérgio Nascimento on drums, and Nuno Prata on bass. A solid lineup that brings to life a song marked by the insistent repetition of doubt and the raw portrayal of a collective experience.

“O Que Esta Gente Quer” is released under Locomotiva Azul, with graphic design by Ana Viana.
