Luca Vaillancourt y los Pescadores is an exploration of the intimate ties between the music of the Iberian peninsula and Latin America. With strong ties in Jazz and improvisation, they offer a re-imagination of these traditions, giving a new and broader meaning to Latin Jazz. The compositions and songs are transatlantic narratives, speaking of tales of fishermen and travelers seeking new horizons across the high seas.

Central to the project are the “cantes de ida y vuelta” or songs that traveled there and back. A concept describing the phenomenon of overseas travel and cross-pollination of music between Iberian traditions and those of Latin America. The presented repertoire are own compositions that are based on the specific styles affected by this deep connection like Milongas, Flamenco, Boleros and more.

You may expect to get hooked by a sound deeply anchored in traditions teeming with modern harmonies and powerful rhythms.

The quintet consist of Arturo Ramirez Hintze, drummer from Mexico, Patricia Mancheño, Spanish bassist, Gabriel Montenegro Perini and Gustavo Jaramillo Pimentel from Colombia, each infusing the project with their own heritage and cultural landscape. The band is led by Luca Vaillancourt de Dios, Luxembourgish/Spanish guitarist and singer.

They released their debut album in June 2025 titled “Cantes transatlánticos”.
