Born to a Québécois mother and a Polish father, Briga is a Canadian singer-songwriter, performer, and multi-instrumentalist based in Montreal. For more than a decade, she has been shaping a singular universe where tradition and hybridity, simplicity and color, seamlessly intertwine.
With six albums to her name and tours across Canada, the United States, and Europe, Briga has become a key figure in today’s folk scene. A JUNO Award nominee in 2018, recipient of the Étoile Galaxie Prize, and multiple-time finalist at both the ADISQ Awards and the Canadian Folk Music Awards, she embodies an artist who is both rooted and cosmopolitan.
Her music draws on the sounds of Eastern Europe and the grooves of the Balkans and the Maghreb, creating a unique blend she describes as turbo folk infused with electro-pop flair.
With her sixth album Familia (2024), Briga deepens her exploration of identity and cultural exchange. Briga brings Eastern European influences, Alix Noël-Guéry honors his Haitian heritage, Tacfarinas Kichou adds the rhythms of North African percussion, Antoine Pelegrin connects the ensemble to contemporary Québécois music, and Marton Maderspach enriches the sound with Hungarian folk nuances.
