Born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Alysson is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist with a 25-year artistic journey. He creatively defines his sound as “Uaifrobeat” — a fusion of Afro-Mineiro rhythms, Afro-Brazilian music, and Brazilian song, shaped by his experiences in congado, Black musical theater, and the vibrant nightlife of Belo Horizonte. A graduate of Bituca – University of Popular Music, Alysson has worked as an arranger, vocalist, and stage musician in acclaimed musical theater productions such as Galanga Chico Rei, Oratório, Zumbi, and Madame Satã. He has performed at major festivals in Brazil and abroad, including FAN BH, Encontro Nacional de Culturas (Portugal), Samba-Syndrom (Berlin), and Samba Fest (USA). In 2016, he lived in New York, performing at venues like Silvana’s, Shrine, Bonafide, and the legendary Blue Note NY. His 2024 EP Iroko marks a new phase, exploring themes of ancestry, time, and justice with beauty and lyrical depth, reaffirming his voice as one of the most distinctive in contemporary Black Brazilian music.
